The main factors affecting the quality of PVC floor covering paste

viny bus flooring

The vinyl floor covering is widely used for the buses, coaches, and RVs.The bonding methods of the vinyl flooring covering are different, and the floor adhesive materials used are different, which not only affects the aesthetic effect of the interior, but also affects the comfort of the ride due to the smell of the floor covering glue.

Moreover, the improper bonding method of floor covering glue and floor covering will lead to bulging, delamination, and large-area detachment of the floor covering in the later stage, and the rework processing is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and costly.

It can be seen that the method of pasting the floor covering and the floor glue are very important to the beauty, effect and comfort of the passenger car interior. At present, the main factors affecting the quality of vinyl floor covering paste are PVC floor coverings, floor covering glue, substrates, and spray guns.

1. PVC Floor Covering

The main components of floor covering are PVC and silicon carbide. The main function is to improve the wear resistance, decoration or anti-slip performance of the floor. The PVC floor coverings in common use for transport are as follows:

  1. Ordinary PVC floor covering: generally used in passenger cars with high decorative requirements such as tourist buses;
  2. Striped PVC floor covering: This floor covering has good wear resistance, and has parallel protruding stripes on the outer surface, which can be anti-slip, and is generally used on buses that require high wear resistance;
  3. Wear-resistant PVC floor covering: This floor covering is the same as the striped floor covering except that the outer surface is flat
  4. Composite floor covering: This floor covering has better decorative properties and higher wear resistance than ordinary floor leather, and is generally used in small passenger cars
  5. Silicon carbide floor covering: The floor covering also named anti-slip floor covering contains wear-resistant PVC color chips quartz sand and silicon carbide, so it not only has very high wear resistance and anti-skid performance, but also has good decorative properties. The seam of the silicon carbide floor covering is generally welded, and it is mostly used in high-end passenger cars.

The adhesive surface of the floor covering is covered with non-woven fabrics or without non-woven fabrics.The floor covering with non-woven fabrics is good for sticking, and the non-woven fabrics are not easy to stick, so you need to specify the matching floor glue.

2. Floor covering glue

There are two main types of floor covering glues currently in use: one is solvent-based glue; the other is water-solubility glue.

Solvent-based glue is characterized by strong initial adhesion and heavy odor. Water-solubility glue is characterized by weak initial adhesion and no odor.

3. Substrates under the floor covering

The main substrates are bamboo plywood, bamboo wood plate, PVC plate, aluminum plate, galvanized plate.

The surface of the substrate is smooth, such as PVC plate, aluminum plate, galvanized plate, the surface needs to be sanded or painted. The surface of the substrate is uneven, such as bamboo plywood, bamboo wood plate, the surface does not need to be polished.

4. Spray guns

The spray gun is generally a pressure feed spray gun, working pressure: 3.0 ~ 5.0bar; standard diameter: 1.8 ~ 3.0mm.

Adjust the pressure of the spray gun so that the sprayed glue is in the form of a mist, and the cross-section baseball form is the best. The moving speed of the spray gun should be uniform, and the working time per m2 is 20 to 30 seconds. If the speed is too slow, the glue will accumulate, and the amount of glue sprayed will be insufficient if moving too fast. Control the gesture to move the spray gun at a constant speed, and the width of the overlapping area of the two sprays should be controlled at about 100mm. The distance of between the spray gun and the spraying surface should be 250-450mm, and the effect is not good if the distance is too close or too far. Spraying too close and the glue material will pile up, if the spray gun is too far away, the glue will have a tendency to form dry dust before it reaches the surface, and the adhesion will be greatly reduced. The final shape of the glue is mesh, the glue amount is evenly distributed, and there is no accumulation or too little glue amount.

The angle between the spray gun mouth and the sprayed surface is 45 degrees.

The spray gun must be used under normal working pressure. After each use, the spray gun and accessories must be cleaned immediately to prevent the glue from partially or completely blocking the nozzle and affecting the spraying of glue.
